Eiffel Excellence Scholarship 2022-2023 at the University of Paris-Saclay

The Eiffel scholarship programme is a tool developed by the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs to enable French higher education institutions to attract the best foreign students for master's and doctoral programmes.

The University of Paris-Saclay accepts, supports and submits the application to Campus France.

The Eiffel 2022 call for applications (academic year 2022/23) is now open, until Tuesday 30 November 2021 at 11:59 pm.

 

Eligibility criteria

  • Master's level scholarship: foreign student under 25 years old (born after March 1996) in Master's or Engineering studies in the following fields
    • Science and technology: Biology and health; Ecological transition; Mathematics and numeracy; Engineering sciences
    • Humanities and social sciences: History, French language and civilisation; Law and political science; Economics and management

You must be a first-time applicant (cannot be combined with another French government scholarship). Please note that students already in France are no longer eligible for this scholarship.

  • Doctoral scholarship: foreign doctoral student under 30 years old (born after March 1991) in co-supervision or co-direction, in the following fields
    • Science and Technology: Biology and Health; Ecological Transition; Mathematics and Digital; Engineering Sciences
    • Humanities and social sciences: History, French language and civilisation; Law and political science; Economics and management

You must be a first-time applicant (cannot be combined with another French government scholarship).

Duration of the scholarship

Master's programme: the Eiffel scholarship is awarded for a period of :

  • 12 months maximum for enrolment in a Master 2 programme
  • 24 months maximum for enrolment in a Master 1 programme
  • 36 months for the preparation of an engineering degree

Doctorate section: the Eiffel scholarship is awarded for a maximum of 12 months (which can be split up).

 

Amount of the grant

  • Doctorate level: monthly allowance of €1,700 (since 1 January 2021).
  • Master's level: monthly allowance of €1,181.


How to apply?

Step 1: Check your eligibility by reading the Campus France Vademecum.

Step 2: Select your course:

  • For the Master's programme, choose a programme offered at the University of Paris-Saclay (more information on the Master's programmes here) and check that this Master's programme is eligible for the Eiffel scholarship (list of Master's programmes eligible for the Eiffel scholarship here).
  • For the PhD section, you must be in co-supervision or co-direction and provide the co-supervision agreement or a certificate of co-supervision signed by the French and foreign parties.

Step 3: Prepare your application file. The documents must be translated into French or English.

  • For the Master's programme, the application file must contain
    1. Letter of motivation from the applicant
    2. Curriculum vitae
    3. Copy of the transcripts since the entry in the Higher Education
    4. Academic ranking from the previous year (mandatory). This is a compulsory document to apply for the Eiffel scholarship. As this is a scholarship for excellence, the jury needs to know the student's ranking within the class. If your university does not systematically issue this document, you should ask the head of your course to issue a signed certificate mentioning your ranking.
    5. Letter of recommendation
  • For the PhD programme, the application file must contain
    1. A presentation of the thesis project and research progress, written in French or English (1 to 5 pages)
    2. Certificate of co-direction / co-supervision of the thesis
    3. Letter of motivation from the candidate
    4. Curriculum vitae
    5. Copy of transcripts since entering Higher Education
    6. Academic ranking from the previous year (mandatory). This is a compulsory document to apply for the Eiffel scholarship. As this is a scholarship for excellence, the jury needs to know the student's ranking within the class. If your university does not systematically issue this document, you should ask the head of your course to issue a signed certificate mentioning your ranking.
    7. Letter of recommendation

Step 4: Complete the online application form before Tuesday 30 November 2021 at 23:59. Application form.

 

We are currently encountering a technical problem in the application form, section "Study project at the University of Paris-Saclay", drop-down menu "Master's degree field".  For all applications in the science and technology fields (Biology and Health, Ecological Transition, Mathematics and Digital, Engineering Sciences) select "Engineering Sciences".

Incomplete applications, sent after the deadline or not respecting the procedure, will not be examined and candidates will not receive any answer.

 

Application timetable

  • Application deadline: 30 November 2021, 23:59. This date is different from the one indicated on the Campus France website (7 January 2022) to allow for the preparation of selected applications.
  • The candidates pre-selected by the University of Paris-Saclay will be contacted by email before Friday 17 December 2021. If you are not contacted after this date, it means that the University of Paris-Saclay has not retained your application for the Eiffel scholarship.
  • Publication of the results (for students pre-selected by the University of Paris-Saclay): during the week of April 4th 2022 on the Campus France website.
