LabEx CIMI scholarships of the University of Toulouse 2022-2023

The LabEx CIMI (Centre International de Mathématiques et d'Informatique) of the University of Toulouse, France, is offering Master and PhD scholarships in mathematics and computer science as part of its scientific activities for the academic years 2022-2023.

For the academic year 2022, LabEx CIMI is offering 14 master scholarships, 6 scholarships at M1 level and 8 scholarships at M2 level, and 4 to 7 doctoral scholarships.

CIMI is one of the LabEx excellence projects selected by the French National Research Agency for the period 2012-2025. The Centre International de Mathématiques et d'Informatique is composed of three member research institutes: IMT, IRIT and LASS. CIMI has more than 550 researchers.

 

About the LabEx CIMI scholarships

Deadline: January 31, 2022 (Master), opening on 1ᵉʳ February 2022 (Doctorate)

Funding: €1,000 per month (M1), €1,200 per month (M2), €1,975 gross per month (PhD)
Open to: All nationalities including French.

LabEx CIMI scholarships: Master component

Benefits

Every year CIMI (Centre International de Mathématiques et d’Informatique) in Toulouse provides a number of fellowships for students enrolled in a Master course in Mathematics or Computer Science in one of the programs associated with CIMI.

6 fellowships for students starting on the first year of a Master’s degree M1 and 8 fellowships for those starting on the second year of a Master’s degree M2 will be available.

The level of funding will be competitive and sufficient to cover tuition fees and part of living expenses in Toulouse :

  • 1 000 € per month over 10 months for applicants starting in the first year M1
  • 1 200 € per month over 10 months for applicants starting in the second year M2

 

Eligibility criteria

Those fellowships are open, on a competitive basis, to French and foreign students and awarded on the basis of the quality of the academic records.

First year (M1) applicants: Applicants must have obtained a degree corresponding to the European Bachelor's degree.

Second year (M2) applicants : Applicants must have successfully completed the first year of a European Master's degree, or an American Bachelor's degree, or any equivalent level.

The CIMI LabEx applies an equal opportunity policy in selection.

IMPORTANT : Students applying for a Master course combining work and training (student under an apprenticeship contract or pre-professional contract) are not eligible for CIMI fellowships.

Closing date: January 31st 2022 at 10.00 p.m (Paris time)

 

Requested documents

  • Curriculum Vitae (max. 2 pages)

  • Copy of your ID-card or Passport

  • Details of the grades obtained at University from the 1st year to present

  • Details of the courses attended in the year

  • Two recommendation letters : do not forget to mention (step 4 of the application process) the e-mail address of the professors wishing to send recommendation letters. They will receive an automatic e-mail to upload their letter.

  • Applicant’s motivation letter : applicants for a Master 2 fellowship must clearly state in their letter the M2 programme (M2R, IMAT,...) they are applying for.

  • Information about current level of French language skills (only applies to foreign students from non French speaking countries applying for a M1 fellowship).  All Master 1 courses will be taught in French (apart from the Computer Science Master for Aerospace).

Please note that the applicant is responsible for making sure his application is complete prior to the closing date. Fully completed applications only will be examined.

Selection process

Fellowships applications will be examined by the LabEx CIMI Executive Committee and the head of the Master Program in Mathematics & Computer Science.

Grants will be awarded on the basis of the quality of the academic records.

Master program informations

Important. The M2 programme in Maths and in Computer includes an internship during the second semester. For students selected for a CIMI fellowship, the internship will have to take place either at the Institut de Mathématiques, at the Institut de Recherche en Informatique or at the Laboratoire d'analyse et d'architecture des systèmes (LAAS, teams ROC, SARA, MAC, TSF and VERTICS). 

 

 

LabEx CIMI scholarships: Doctorate component

Eligibility criteria

Those fellowships are open, on a competitive basis, to French and foreign students and awarded on the basis of the quality of the academic records.

The research areas should be developed within the activities at

Phd subjects with interactions between mathematics and computer science will be closely examined.

 

Work contract conditions

Recruited doctoral students will be paid € 1975 gross per month. They will have the opportunity to sign a teaching endorsement for the duration of their doctoral studies.

  • Details of grades obtained at university from the 1st year to present

  • Motivation letter from the applicant

  • Short description of the proposed Phd subject signed by the applicant and the applicant’s supervisor

  • Where appropriate, a proposal for co-financing
