The University of Yaoundé II was created on 19 January 1993 by decree N°93/026 establishing the State Universities of Cameroon. It is therefore the result of the former University of Yaounde.
It is built on five (05) campuses:
- the Soa campus which houses the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences (FSJP) and the Faculty of Economics and Management (FSEG)
- the Ngoa Ekelle campus where the École Supérieure des Sciences et Techniques de l'Information et de la Communication (ESSTIC) and the Institut de Formation et Recherche Démographiques (IFORD) are built
- the Obili campus where the Institute of International Relations of Cameroon (IRIC) is housed
- Bertoua campus, Annex of the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences (FSJP)
- Ebolowa campus, Annex of the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences (FSJP)
The main campus of SOA covers an area of 323 hectares.
MISSIONS
The missions of the University of Yaounde II are
- teaching,
- training and development of executives,
- support to development,
- social promotion,
- the promotion of science, culture and national consciousness.
