The Faculty of Sciences of the University of Geneva has established a fellowship program open to outstanding and highly motivated international students who wish to pursue a Master's degree in one of the disciplines covered by the Faculty. The Faculty of Science of the University of Geneva is an internationally recognized leading research institution. The Faculty hosts three National Centres of Competence in Research of the highly competitive Swiss National Sciences Foundation as well as many European research projects.

 

Language requirements

The French exam is no longer mandatory to register in a Master's program in the Faculty of Science. Some Master's programs are entirely in English, others in French, the majority in English and French.

 

Eligibility criteria for University of Geneva scholarships

Access to the Masters program requires a Bachelor's degree recognized by Switzerland and the University of Geneva.

Regardless of your home university, if you have successfully completed or are in the process of completing your Bachelor's degree, and you are among the best in your year, the University of Geneva scholarships are for you.

You must meet the specific admission criteria of the Master's program of your choice and be selected on the basis of your application file for a scholarship of excellence.

Benefits of the University of Geneva scholarships

The University of Geneva's Master's Scholarship consists of an amount of CHF 10,000 to CHF 15,000 per year (9,300-13,900 Euros/year). This scholarship is awarded for one year and extended for the normal duration of the chosen Master's program (three or four semesters) if the candidate is successful at the end of his/her first semester of studies.

 

How to apply for the University of Geneva scholarships?

In order for your application to be considered, you must register according to the procedure described on the Admissions Service website. The application process is completely online.

Registration for the next session will be possible as of January 2022.

After registration you will receive an e-mail with a personal link to fill out the application form.

The application (in French or English) must include the following documents in a SINGLE PDF file

  • The letter you received by email from the central administration, called "Your application to the UNIGE" (proof that you have started the registration process).
  • A scan of your national identity card or passport.
  • A Curriculum Vitae (2 pages maximum).
  • The transcript of exams passed during the bachelor education, with all grades.
  • A motivation letter in which you describe your specific scientific interests and your motivation to pursue a Master of Science program at the University of Geneva.
  • If possible: Letters of references from two professors (preferably sent by them directly to Excellence-Master-Sciences@unige.ch) attesting your aptitude to this program.
  • Any other pertinent information like results of GRE (General requirement examination), of TOEFL or other language test.

The deadline is March 15, 2022 (for Masters programs beginning September 20, 2022).
